AMINES
In gas processing plants and petroleum refineries, amine units are used to extract acid gases (H2S and CO2) from gas sources, LPG, recycled fuels, and off-gas refineries. An amine unit is also used in sequestration of CO2, production of metals, and production of synthesis gas. Activated carbon acts as an adsorbent or as a chemical reagent support system, eliminates pollutants from the amine solvent and reduces foaming problems.
Specially chosen granular activated carbon (GAC) revel eliminates contaminants from the amine solution, reducing the problems of foaming. Here we concentrate on the contact times and quantities of activated carbon that affect the amine solutions of contaminated methyldiethanolamine (MDEA).
